BEERUN : a novelty here.

(posted by Becci)

We ran the Beerrun for St. Patrick's Day. It was oddly like any other run I'd ever done in Wisconsin--cold, long, tiring and made complete with a beer at the end. Seems though, that thislatter piece is an oddity in these parts. Yep...turns out most of those we ran with said that they were running "just for the free beer at the end." Funny though...there was $25 price tag to participate, and in return, you got a t-shirt, a chance to circle campus a couple of times and have a nice safety patrol officer tell you that "you look good and are nearly there," midway up a hellish hill midway along the course (where, incidentally, Heather looked him square in the eye and said, "yeah...shut up. Tell me that when I'm at the end of the damn hill), a long sleeve t-shirt and two tokens for beer, redeemable only after the run. I may be wrong, but last I checked, it is more economically sound, and perhaps better all the way around, to just buy the two beers and skip the t-shirt all together.

Nonetheless...we persisted and made it to top of that hill. And to the front of that beer line. Three times actually, as apparently someone else wasn't interested in redeeming their tokens immediately following the run. Hmmm...wonder why they ran anyway?!
