Watch out Madison, here comes Dad!
So here's the patient. The 3-kidney wonder!
Today marks day eight since the surgery. Dad is doing well, and true to form, is keeping everyone on the staff at the hospital entertained. His numbers have been a little squirrely (sort of like the patient himself), so they've kept him here. The doctors are working to rule out a rejection episode so he'll be here a bit longer. The good news though, is that he'll get a day pass today, so watch out Madison, here comes Dad!
Jane is home and doing well. She seems no worse for the wear having given up her kidney (which incidentally, was quite "pretty" according to the surgeon). She's missing Dad from afar, but has been overwhelmed with visitors, food and well wishes.
I too am well, though like Dad, am growing weary of the hospital. I've been at Dad's side for the full ride, and together we've watched about eight thousand hours of ESPN coverage. I've tried nearly every offering in the hospital cafeteria and the chair at Dad's bedside has a permanent imprint of my backside in it. I might be more excited about the day pass than he is.
Chelle and I do the swap today, and so she'll fill the chair for the coming days. I'm headed back to Heather and Ernie and my own bed. I'm very excited about that.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, extra beds and willingness to share a beer or a lunch. They've meant a lot to me...and to my family. We're all on the road to recovery!

Hey Neighbor...
Just logged on to your blog today after not visiting in a while, and want to say Chris and I are thinking of you and your family as your dad and Jane recover from their surgeries. Much love to you coming from us both.
