It's true... I am (soon to be) employed again.

(posted by Heather)

I guess I couldn't really continue on in my early retirement indefinitely (and still hope for a real retirement one day). And, I guess at some point, I really did need to put on my big girl panties and go back to work. It's a shame really, as I was so good at managing our many household appointments (and yes, some still remain to be scheduled), taking care of the puppy, keeping the house (relatively) clean, doing the laundry, and braving The Tweeter all by myself for groceries...

So the time has come and I've accepted a job at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro's Department of Biology. I'll be working in the departmental office and although it's not quite clear what the bulk of my job responsibilities will be - I do know that I will be the person who signs for the live frog shipments. Excellent.

There are many (many) positives to this job - beyond just having a real paycheck again. Like - I get to wear jeans to work. I'll have health insurance. Becci and I can walk (or drive) to campus together. I can take up to 3 University courses per year tuition-free. And, of course - I get to sign for live frog shipments.

But - unlike my current position with 1813 Rolling Road - I doubt that I can lounge around in the same clothes I wore yesterday and not shower until after lunch. I bet the folks at the UNC-G Department of Biology frown upon that. Bummer.

I start on Monday. Wish me luck!
